The advantage of press – fit installation is that it can provide excellent contact between the heatsink and the component. This means better heat transfer. It’s also a fairly quick installation method once you have the right setup.
But the main drawback is that it’s not very forgiving. If the heatsink or the socket is even a little bit off in size or shape, it might not fit properly. And removing a press – fit heatsink can be difficult and might require special tools.
Which Installation Method Should You Choose?
